Profile
Straightener started performing in Shibuya and Shimokitazawa with a duo of guitar and drums in 1998. Although influenced by British rock, punk and alternative, their music did not stay within the boundaries. Their free-style, accelerating gigs gained popularity, giving them an indie album release. The emotional and dynamic drumming, the cool behavior in contrast to the sensual performance and the beautiful melody fascinates not only the fans but favored by their counterparts.
In 2002 they established their own label “ghost records.” In 2003 a bassist Hidekazu Hinata joined the band, enriching the band`s sound with more depth and groove. In October of the same year they released the single “Traveling Gargoyle” from Toshiba EMI. With a brand new concept of their 4th album released in 2007, they start a tour covering 53 shows in 47 prefectures titled “Linear Motor City.” They also released a mini album “Immortal,” reflecting their experience from the tour followed by the “Immortals Tour.”
