1996年結成。後藤正文(vo.g)、喜多建介(g.vo)、山田貴洋(b.vo)、伊地知潔(dr)による4人組ロックバンド。
2003年「未来の破片」でメジャーデビュー。。
同年より新宿LOFTにて、ロックフェスティバル『NANO-MUGEN FES.』を立ち上げ、2004年からは海外アーティストも加わり会場も日本武道館、横浜アリーナと規模を拡大。
2016年、バンド結成20周年イヤーを迎え、自身最大のヒット作『ソルファ』の再レコーディング盤をリリースするなど話題を集めた。
2023年にメジャーデビュー20周年を迎え、翌年、初のシングルコレクションをリリース。バンドの代表曲でもある「遥か彼方」の再録を収録した全33曲、バンドの歴史が詰まった作品となっている。。
今年2月19日には、TVアニメ「FARMAGIA(ファーマギア)」のオープニングテーマにもなっている31stシングル「ライフ イズ ビューティフル」をリリース。
後藤が描くリアルな焦燥感、絶望さえ推進力に昇華する圧倒的なエモーション、勢いだけにとどまらない「日本語で鳴らすロック」でシーンを牽引し続け世代を超えた絶大な支持を得ている。
Formed in 1996, Asian Kung-fu Generation are a four-member rock band consisting of Masafumi Gotoh (vocals, guitar), Kensuke Kita (guitar, vocals), Takahiro Yamada (bass, vocals), and Kiyoshi Ijichi (drums).
They made their major debut in 2003 with the single “Mirai no Kakera.” That same year, they launched the Nano-Mugen rock festival at Shinjuku Loft. From 2004 onward, the festival expanded to include international artists and grew in scale, moving to venues including Nippon Budokan and Yokohama Arena.
In 2016, the band celebrated its 20th anniversary, and garnered attention by releasing a re-recorded version of their biggest hit album, “Sol-fa.”
Marking the 20th anniversary of their major debut in 2023, they released their first-ever single collection the following year. This album, packed with the band’s history, features 33 songs, including a re-recorded version of their iconic track “Haruka Kanata.”
On February 19 of this year, they released their 31st single, “Life is Beautiful,” which serves as the opening theme for the TV anime “Farmagia.”
Gotoh's lyrics capture raw frustration and despair, transforming them into an overwhelming sense of emotion. Driven by more than just energy, their music continues to lead the scene with "rock expressed in Japanese," earning widespread support across generations.
